Understanding Plural Forms in Estonian: Päevad

In Estonian, plural forms are an essential part of the language and important for the A2 state exam. One key word to know is "päevad," meaning "days." It's the plural form of "päev," which means "day." For example, you might say: "On ilusad päevad suvel," meaning "There are beautiful days in summer."

Another example is "õhtud," the plural of "õhtu" (evening). You could say: "Kõik õhtud on vabad," translating to "All evenings are free."

A third example: "raamatud," the plural of "raamat" (book). You might use it in: "Raamatud on riiulil," meaning "The books are on the shelf."

A common mistake is forgetting to change the verb or adjective to match the plural noun. Remember, in "Päevad on ilusad," the adjective "ilusad" (beautiful) also takes a plural form.

Practice by listing your daily activities in both singular and plural forms. This will improve your fluency and confidence in using plurals.
