'Tere' is a versatile greeting used at any time of day, similar to 'Hello' in English. 'Tere hommikust', however, is specifically used in the morning and translates to 'Good morning'. These greetings are not only important for starting conversations but also for creating a friendly atmosphere. Remember, 'Tere' can be used in nearly all situations, making it a must-know word for any language learner.
Understanding when and how to use these greetings is key. 'Tere' is applicable in both formal and informal contexts, and it's a great way to start any conversation. Meanwhile, 'Tere hommikust' is best used up until about noon. It's important to note that Estonians appreciate a direct and straightforward approach, so using these greetings appropriately can leave a good impression.
